SMIC Chooses Comprehensive Set of Mentor Graphics Tools for Design and Physical Verification
WILSONVILLE, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 24, 2003--Mentor
Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq:MENT) and Semiconductor Manufacturing
International Corporation (SMIC) today jointly announced that SMIC,
China's first pure-play commercial IC foundry to achieve volume
production for 8-inch wafers, has chosen the Mentor Graphics(R) tools,
including Calibre(R), IC Station(R), and Eldo(TM), as one of their
internal production standards.
SMIC provides wafer fabrication services for a wide range of
devices, such as logic, mixed-signal, SRAM, DRAM, EEPROM, Mask ROM,
high-voltage circuits and system-on-chip.
"Adopting Calibre puts us in a unique position. Not only do we get
access to outstanding technology, but we also align our physical
verification flow with semiconductor companies which have standardized
on Calibre," said Dr. James Sung, vice president of marketing and
sales, SMIC. "In addition, Mentor has excellent custom design and
simulation technology, and we have therefore chosen IC Station and
Eldo for use in our internal development teams."
"Calibre is the physical verification standard for design services
companies, library and IP providers, foundries and fabs," said Joseph
Sawicki, general manager of the Mentor Graphics design-to-silicon
division. "With SMIC's adoption of a comprehensive set of IC design
tools from Mentor, they establish a solid tool infrastructure that
will serve them now and for future process technologies."
Mentor Graphics Integrated AMS SoC Design Tools
Mentor Graphics delivers advanced technology for AMS SoC design,
from capture and simulation through physical implementation,
verification and analysis. The tool set includes the Design
Architect(R)-IC application, with a powerful AMS SoC design cockpit,
and the IC Station layout and chip assembly flow for accelerated
physical layout, top-level floor planning and chip assembly routing.
Mentor Graphics also provides the ADVance MS(TM) tool, a
single-kernel, language-independent simulation environment for
digital, analog, mixed-signal and RF circuits. In addition, the
Calibre and Calibre xRC(TM) tools deliver the industry's highest
capacity, performance and accuracy for physical verification and
parasitic extraction. This fully integrated set of tools is available
immediately for Linux, HP and Sun platforms.
About SMIC
